The TMZ / paparazzi culture we know now was born in front of the club (TMZ’s offices are hidden across the street, above the old Virgin Megastore) as dozens of photographers would crowd outside for hours every night in an attempt to capture the Young Hollywood crowd exiting onto Sunset Blvd. But with an entire industry of tabloids, gossip blogs, and reality stars being born just outside the velvet rope, Brent Bolthouse famously maintained a zero-tolerance policy for cameras inside of the club, which is true even today…

Things change. If you’re in L.A. tomorrow night, you know what to do.

Passing Stranger
The next time I have an hour and half to wander around my neighborhood I’m definitely going to take this in-depth audio tour.  It’s narrated by one of my favorite filmmakers, Jim Jarmusch, and details the neighborhoods relationship with the poets that lived here as well as general history.
Check it out.
